We’ll be recording the next From The Rookery End podcast next Wednesday, during the Hertfordshire Senior Challenge Cup game between Watford and Hadley. Here are the details:
Date: 6th November 2013
Where: Potters Bar Town FC, The Pakex Staduim, Watkins Rise (off The Walk, EN6 1QB
Costs: £6 adults, £3 concessions, £1 programmes and it’s about £3 a pint!
Now it’s not the most glamorous competition. Watford have won the competition 16 times, the first in 1888 (as Watford Rovers) and the last time was in 2004-2005 when a young Hornets – including Lloyd Doyley, Adrian Mariappa and Ashley Young – beat Borham Wood under the guidance of Sir Nigel Gibbs. We are likely to see an Under 18’s team play and that’s the best thing about going along. You get to see the possible stars of the future battle it out against tough competition. The lower leagues are not pretty places to go!
The last time FTRE went along to a Herts Senior Cup tie we saw a Sean Murray score an out of the box belter and Tommie Hoban doing a good job in defence. They may have lost to 4-1 away at Bishop Stortford.
This year were hoping to see the next few stars. We’re particularly looking forward to seeing Bernard Mensah, Uche Ikpeazu, Luke O’Nien and Alex Jakubiak. We are very proud of our youth development and featured it on the podcast many times , so we can’t wait to get down to see what the future has in store!
