First Watford game?
Watford v Walsall FA Cup 5th Round Replay in 1987. The game ended 4-4 and the Watford goals came from Watford legends Kenny Jacket, Luther Blissett and John Barnes!
Favourite Watford player ever?
Tony Coton. Not only was he an amazing goalkeeper, he was also slightly unhinged and as hard as nails.
What’s your special Watford fact?
As a nipper I used to badger my parents to take me to Vicarage Road a lot. One summer we went to the ground to visit the Hornet Shop, they were busy building the Rous Stand so we went up to a have a closer look. After talking to the builders a bit my brother and I got stuck in with helping mix the cement they were using. It is therefore fair to say that I helped build the Rous Stand.
First Watford game?
Home to Shrewsbury in the 1979/80 season when we were in the old Division 2. 22 March 1980 and we lost 1-0.
Favourite Watford player ever?
It’s a tough call between John Barnes and Luther Blissett, but I think Luther edges it.
What’s your special Watford fact?
I once played on the hallowed turf in a 5 a side competition. In the summer of 2000.
First Watford game?
Watford 3-0 Oxford United – 23rd August 1986 – Goals from John Barnes, Luther Blissett and David Bardsley.
Favourite Watford player ever?
John Barnes. He was my first footballing hero and the first player I had a photo take with. I meet him again a few years ago and he didn’t like me reminding him of our first meeting 20 years earlier and I was quite drunk.
What’s your special Watford fact?
I was Mr August in the 1988 Watford Calendar. I’d taken kick off with Luther Blissett at the club Open Day and someone must have taken my picture.
