We are now in our 7th Season of podcasting about Watford FC, and oh what a great time we’ve had. It’s doubt anyone has ever listened to every episodes we’ve published, so we thought, with an international break to get through, we’d highlight a few of our favourites. Everyday this week we will highlighting a ‘classic’ episode of FTRE.
Dinner with Deeney
We’ve had a lot of fun producing FTRE over 6 years, but this was a very special podcast for us. An evening with Troy Deeney for a very open and entertaining conversation about life.
6.1 – WE’RE BACK
In the first Premier League FTRE, We popped down to Wimbledon for a pre-season and caught up with Heruleo Gomes about promotion and his role in the dressing room.
5.5 – Back to The Future Part 2
The Tales for the Vicarage books have become a fantastic annual event in the Watford fan calendar. The live events that launch the books have become special evenings for Watford fans to look back and remember what a wonderful club we support. At the 2nd live event, we were given back stage access where we spoke with David Holdsworth, Tommy Smith, Ray Lewington and Nicky Wright, plus authors Adam Leventhal and Lionel Birnie.
SHORT – Selco London Masters
At the end of the first season of FTRE we popped down to Wembley Arena for the London Masters (which Watford ended up winning). We talked to the players about their time at the club and what is was like to return to pitch in a Watford shirt.
4.3 – Watching with the Beard
We’ve got to do some very cool things doing FTRE, none no cooler than watching a Watford game with Marco Cassetti – The Beard. This was recorded during Watford v Bournemouth in the Capital One Cup.
SPECIAL: Lloyd Doyley Behind The Scenes Tour
Lloyd has been another regular on FTRE and this was an extra special interview. At the start of his testimonial year, Jon and Mike talk to Lloyd in the changing room, tunnel and dugout about his first 10 years as a professional at Watford FC.
5.10 – LIVE! and on the Radio
Most From The Rookery End podcasts are recorded and edited before we publish them, but this one was different. With Silver FM, a local community station, back on the air, the boys produced a 2 hour live programme. Recorded in the heat of promotion, in-between our draw against Derby and before the pivitol home game against Boro, we not only talk to Watford born and bred Paul Robinson, but representatives from all our promtion opponents – Craig Ramage about Derby County, Stephen Fletcher from Bourtsmouth, as well as Journalist from Middlesbrough and Norwich.
1.6 – The Youth of Today We have always taken a keen interest in the Youth set up at Watford, and this is our very first. In this podcast we talk to Adam Thompson (who’d only just signed his professional contract at that point) and Nick Cox, Head of Academy at the time. Nick appeared on the podcast many times and is always insightful as to how the Academy works.
